Dear List, A big "Thank you" to Josh Benda for providing me with the solution to my ArcPress problem. I needed to use a different driver (HP RTL). It still strikes me as odd that I have to perform the workaround of manually selecting the print files to plot when using the 'Auto Panel' option. I am using ArcPress Version 2.0. Has this bug been fixed in subsequent versions? My original request for help and Josh's solution follow: > -----Original Message----- > From: Abells, Chris > Sent: Friday, June 22, 2001 5:26 PM > To: ArcView-List (E-mail) > Subject: AV3.2 - ArcPress - Auto Panel Problems > > Hello Listers, > > I am trying to plot an 88 inch wide by 68 inch high layout to an HP 755CM > plotter. In ArcPress I rotated it 90 degrees, set the Auto Panel option > to .5" overlap, and checked the Trim Guides check box. After clicking OK, > I eventually get an error box telling me it could not locate > "apr000.pcl3". ArcPress just hangs there attempting to print the > non-existent file. I checked my temp directory and confirmed the file was > missing. The list of PCL3 files starts with apr0001.pcl3 and goes to > apr00081.pcl3. I am running NT 4.0 on a dual-processor 730 megahertz > Pentium III with 256 MB of memory. What am I doing wrong. Will sum. The error message you are getting is quite common. When paneling ArcPress creates multiple plot files and then submits each plot file to the plotter. There is a logic error where it tries to submit a plot file but has the file name wrong. Just ignore the error message and then wait to see what plots out. It will usually plot all except the first panel. Then go into your temp directory ($APRESSTMPDIR) and find the file it missed, which will be named something like 'apr000.rtl'. Double click this file and then submit it to your plotter with ArcPress and there is your first panel. I hope this helps.
